Fair & eco brands

MUD Jeans

MUD Jeans created the concept of ‘Lease A Jeans’ whereby you can lease a pair of jeans for a year. If you still love the jeans after 12 months, they’re yours! If you’d prefer a new pair, you can send the jeans back to MUD and receive a voucher towards your next pair!

What happens when you send them back? Old jeans will be recycled into new wonderful items. Recycling saves water and resources, as well as reducing waste.

MUD jeans are made out of virgin ECOCERT certified organic cotton mixed with recycled cotton from old jeans. Recycled cotton typically saves 40% of water, eliminates the use of pesticides or insecticides and saves disposed garments from landfill!

They use innovative techniques such as laser and ozone instead of typical ‘washing’ techniques - which means no chemicals!

MUD Jeans have an ethical approach across the supply chain; emphasising transparency, fair wages and good working conditions - they also visit factories regularly.

G-Star

We are no strangers to the problem of plastic polluting our oceans… but what if this waste plastic could be put to better use? Perhaps used as a raw material for jeans?

Back in 2015 G-Star collaborated with Pharrell to launch Raw for the Oceans: a collection made using Bionic Yarn, an innovative yarn containing recycled ocean plastic.

G-Star’s latest sustainability collection: Forces of Nature, in collaboration with Jaden Smith is “dedicated to the beauty and power of nature” all garments in the collection have been engineered with sustainable materials and design innovations.

“The collection presents three colorways, each one symbolizing a powerful natural force: Water, Earth and Eclipse”

Jeans in the ‘Water’ collection achieved almost zero water waste; the indigo used for dyeing uses 70% less chemicals and the denim is Certified Cradle to Cradle Gold Level. ‘Earth’ jeans require zero dyes and are made of 100% organic cotton which makes them easily recyclable. Dyeing technology utilised for the ‘Eclipse’ range saves 52% water, 65% energy, 71% CO2 and 14% chemicals compared to conventional black denim.
